RELEASE: NYC New Liberals Call for the Immediate Removal of NYC Mayor Eric Adams from Office
In the wake of an alleged quid pro quo, Mayor Adams can no longer faithfully execute the duties of his office.
NEW YORK CITY – Today, in light of the recent revelation that Mayor Adams offered a quid pro quo to the federal government in exchange for the bribery charges against him being dropped, the New York City New Liberals are releasing the following statement from their executive leadership team:
"Rather than face the bribery charges against him and prove his case in a court of law, Mayor Adams chose to strike a backroom deal, offering political capitulation to the Trump Administration in exchange for leniency. This is not a question of policy disagreements—it is a matter of integrity and governance. A mayor’s first duty is to serve the people of this city, not his own self-preservation. In this, Mayor Adams has failed.
“New Yorkers deserve leaders who are accountable, transparent, and focused on the well-being of everyone in this great city. A mayor willing to trade political favors to get away with accepting bribes can not be trusted to act in the public’s best interest. Every decision that Mayor Adams makes from this point forward will be shadowed by the question of who he’s serving: Donald Trump, or the people of New York City?
"There is no longer any doubt—Mayor Adams has been compromised. He cannot faithfully discharge the duties of his office while beholden to a corrupt arrangement, and the people of this city can not afford a mayor whose loyalty is in question. In the best interest of New York City, we call on Governor Kathy Hochul to immediately remove Eric Adams from office."
